USE OF GLASS TILE
CRACKS OR SCRATCHES IN TILE, STONE, CURB MATERIAL OR ANY OTHER MATERIALS USED IN OR AROUND SHOWER AREA, ACURED DURING OR AFTER INSTALLATION ARE NOT COVERED BY WARRANTY.Crack can acure due to cavities undeneath the tile surface, AFTER drilling holes and tightening hinge (or clamp) screws.
Unvenly applied thinset, when installing tile, can result in cavities and voids underneath the surface.
Hollow sound, when tapping on the surface, is a telltale sign of that. When pressure is applied (weight of the glass or tightening screw) in such area - tile more likely to crack.
Drilling glass tile can be a challenge and use of glass tile is NOT recommended in the areas where hinges or clips will be mounted.
Usually it's not an issue drilling glass tile correctly, but it tends to crack only while tightening the hinge or clamp to the surface.
This could be because tile was not set correctly that location. A small void behind the tile, for example, could result in a crack even with reasonable care on the part of the shower glass door installer.
